Coco Dowley has lived in Vermont for 13 years. A combination of artistic training at Parsons School of Design and Syracuse University started her on her creative journey with a degree in Surface Pattern Design. After working 3 years as an art director and artist at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri, the entrepreneurial spirit touched her on the shoulder and Coco started her own design/licensing company. She is now in her 18th year of business and works with manufacturing companies all over the U.S.A. Coco’s style is multifaceted and she creates designs for infant, juvenile, and adult products.

To help balance out her commercially driven business, Coco has started creating one of a kind mixed media paintings that combine acrylics, fabrics, beads, and whatever else looks fun to add. Coco’s love of animals has always been an inspiration for her art so they appear frequently in her paintings. Coco’s studio is always alive with projects and that usually means about 6 different things going on at once.

“Having a mom as an artist is the best” is how my daughter summarizes the chaos of my vibrant, wonderful studio with its piles of paints, fabrics, beads, brushes, books, and 2 loyal canine assistants. “I agree, being an artist and making a living doing it is the best!”
